#throwbacksunday: Lothaire by Kresley Cole

Today I decided to talk about a book that made me become fan of the series Immortals After Dark by Kresley Cole. I think this is a safe place to talk about this, I feel this is a place where we can talk about everything without judgment, so, I have a confession: I didn’t like the first books in this series. So after trying to read some books, I just gave up on this series and thought this is not for me.

A few years ago, I don’t remember how this book appear on my amazon list but after reading the synopsis and without realizing that it belonged to the same series, I decided to buy it! I was so surprised when I realized that, because I really really like this book. Lothaire is sexy, gorgeous, rich, dangerous and arrogant with a capital A! He had a difficult childhood and everything that happened in his life made him who he is.

When I finished this book, I decided to give a second chance and started reading the series backwards and today I can say that I read almost all of them! I still find the firsts a little weak compared to the last ones…and that’s normal because now there’s a more complex world where in the firsts the author was still creating it.

I am babbling because what I really want to say is that you can read this book without reading the others and still enjoy it. But saying that, I have to admit that there’s a lot of background information that can make more sense if you read the rest of the Immortals after Dark.

Lothaire’s story is very engaging and if you are not new to this series, you know that Lothaire has a habit of making some unexpected appearances in the previous books. Remember the guy who did favors in exchange of a favor in return?

I’m really trying not to give spoilers…while trying to tell you what’s this book about:

Lothaire wanted revenge all of his life, as the Lore’s most ruthless vampire, he plots to seize the Horde’s crown. But for that he need his bride – the special and unique woman who has the power to get his heart beating again, and he just found her, the evil Saroya.

The problem? Sayora is trapped in a body she took over and the only way for them to be together is for Lothaire to get back a magical ring that will help Saroya take full control of the human body.

Sayora, is a Goddess of Death and Blood, and when I say she’s bad..she’s really bad! Killing and torturing, kinda bad!

Ellie Peirce is the human body. Growing up in desperate poverty, Ellie Peirce yearned for a better life, never imagining she’d be convicted of murder—or that an evil immortal would abduct her from death row. But Lothaire is no savior, because he plans to sacrifice her in one month’s time.

And yet the vampire seems to ache for her touch, showering her with wealth and sexual pleasure. In a bid to save her soul, Ellie surrenders her body to the wicked vampire, while vowing to protect her heart.

If you are still here, you probably connected the dots and by now you know who is Lothaire’s true bride! Right?

This book has a lot of sexy scenes….a lot! It’s a fantasy adult series and the cover shows it! But between all that scenes, there’s a story, an entertaining story that will make you devour this book!

phew not to many spoilers! I did it!

Do you know this book? What’s your favorite Immortals after Dark book?
