I’m back and this time I bring you a crime & mystery/ thriller/ suspense book – The Auction by John Reid.
This book was kindly sent to me and although it took me a lot of time to finish it, I have to say that I really like it! And I feel that I have to give an explanation on why it took me so time to write this review.
As I said, I liked it a lot, however after many months full of work (I have a normal work that takes me at least eight hours a day), finally I had some deserved vacations and decided to take a break. I was reading non stop and my poor brain needed some time to recharge. Second, I had some healthy problems (which I explained in my last post), nothing serious but I found myself without the will to write and worst, to read – something that I always loved.
But I finally finished this book and I’m really happy about it. It had been a while since I read a mystery book that made me want to cheat and peek at the last page to see how it ends. (Hello, my name is Ana and I like Spoilers. Guilty!). On the other hand, do you know when we’re almost at the end of a book and we don’t want it to end? I felt it too. Yes, it was a roller coaster of feelings!
Very briefly, The Auction talks about green energy and what people are capable to do about it. It starts with Doctor Hans Rags PhD, that while working on some experiments, found a way for water-based fuels to work. When Hans’ dead body is found, DCI Steve Burt, along with his team, are charged to investigate the murder.
I can say that this book reminded me why I love to read so much. I often find myself reading a book and seeing it in my head like it was a movie and this is the perfect example. Why? This book could be easily turned into a TV Series. Let’s be real, DC Steve Burt has left me ‘wondering how long it would be before his next case’!
If you like mystery and suspense, then you can’t miss this book! I bet that you will not rest until you know how is going to end but I’m definitely not going to tell you! Or have I already done it?
“In his latest murder investigation, DCI Steve Burt is drawn into the sleazy underbelly of London – gentlemen’s clubs and all – while tracking down a serial killer who is murdering young women and dumping their bodies soon afterwards.
Then the body of an American professor is found floating in the Thames, and the DCI and his team find themselves involved in another murder case – which is by no means a straightforward killing. In his search for answers, the DCI and his nearest and dearest are threatened as he uncovers police corruption at the highest level. As the investigation unfolds, links are discovered between murder, an attempt to auction a stolen formula for green energy, and unauthorised CIA activity in London.
This is DCI Steve Burt’s most complicated and most baffling case to date.”
